A 46 year old role-playing game is now more popular than ever – games

“Dungeons & Dragons” has been around for a few years, but the role-playing system fascinates more and more players around the world.

The first version came on the market in 1974, the game still only requires a set of rules and a sheet of paper. And yet the pen-and-paper role-playing game “Dungeons & Dragons” is more popular than ever.

According to manufacturer Wizards of the Coast, 2019 was the most successful year in the franchise’s 46-year history. To celebrate this occasion, the company has created an infographic that illustrates the growth of the brand in recent years – can be seen in the picture above.

Especially in recent years, public interest in “D&D” has been increased through use in mainstream TV series such as “South Park”, “Community” or “The Big Bang Theory”.

“With ongoing expansion into tabletop products, streaming entertainment and digital games, we will continue to win new fans for our legendary world of fantasy storytelling for many years to come,” said Dan Barrett, EU Senior Brand Manager for “Dungeons & Dragons”.
