A huge 360-degree panoramic image captured by Perseverance, which successfully landed on Mars on February 18, 2021, has been released. This panoramic image was created by synthesizing 142 images taken on February 21 using the zoomable camera “Mastcam-Z” installed in Perseverance. The original is a huge image with 36,952 x 11,570 pixels.
This is a close-up of a distant rock with a scale bar. You can see that the details of the surface of Mars are captured.
This image is a close-up of the part shown in the upper left of the panoramic image at the beginning. You can see the edge of the Jezero Crater, the landing site of Perseverance.
You can zoom in / out here by operating the mouse or finger. The original image file can be downloaded from NASA’s Mars Exploration Program web page (although there are 51.8MB for JPG files and 610MB for TIFF files).
* Perseverance is described as “perseverance”, “perseverance”, “perseverance”, “perseverance”, etc. depending on the medium.
