The particular goldfish is known to have been released into Blue Waters Lake in the Champagne region of France 20 years ago. Locals have nicknamed it the Carrot, and more than one person has tried to catch the impressive fish.
Andy Hackett, originally from Worcestershire in England, wrestled with the big fish for about 25 minutes.
The fish caught does not really belong to the goldfish species, as it is a hybrid of European carp and koi carp. It is believed to be the second largest fish of its kind ever caught.
The 42-year-old man tells Britain’s ‘Daily Mail’: ‘I always knew the carrot was there but I never thought I’d catch it. I knew it was a big fish when it grabbed my bait and jumped. from side to side, up and down. Then it came to the surface 25 or 35 meters away and I noticed it was orange.”
The fisherman says it was great to catch the fish, but luck also played a role. He posed for a photo with the big catch before releasing the fish into the water.
