A child was urgently transferred to Reunion from Mauritius on Tuesday 14 February. He had found himself in difficulty for several minutes in a swimming pool of a Mauritian hotel this Monday, February 13. Unfortunately, the young boy died this Wednesday on our island.
This is sad news. A 3-year-old child died in a hospital in Reunion after an emergency transfer from Mauritius.
The little boy was on vacation with his parents and grandparents in a Mauritian hotel. This Monday, February 13, while his parents were busy at the time, the little boy jumped into the pool. He got into trouble very quickly. Unfortunately, the hotel lifeguard intervened only a few minutes later, he was able to fish out the boy who was inert.
After first aid, he was rushed to SSRN Hospital in very critical condition. He was then transferred to Reunion for other care according to our colleagues from Media Challenge. Unfortunately, the 3-year-old boy died on Wednesday February 15 on our island.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the start of drowning in the Mauritian hotel.
According to reports, the 18-year-old lifeguard was not paying attention to swimmers at the time. He could be charged with manslaughter.
