According to information from Iltalehti, the main suspect in the Kalasatama car accident, a woman born in 1995, has been arrested again on suspicion of serious crimes.

The police suspect that the woman, under the influence of drugs, ran away from the police for a long distance, endangering traffic. The situation started early in the morning on Friday, March 22.

It was around 5:30 a.m. when the police patrol left Kehä III near Tikkurila to follow the woman.

– The patrol decided to check the driver’s driving condition. Usual traffic control situation. When the patrol turned after the car, it started to drive away, says the head of the investigation of the case, the crime district commissioner Toni Uusikivi From the Helsinki Police Department.

The woman pressed the gas to the bottom and drove several tens of kilometers along ring roads and the Lahdenväylä. The chase ended in Mellunmäki, Eastern Helsinki, when the woman crashed her car into a lamp post at high speed.

No personal injuries were caused by the dangerous drifting. The woman driving the car was also not seriously injured in the collision.

– Lucky in the accident, there probably weren’t too many pedestrians in the traffic, says Uusikivi.

Eliminate criminal suspicions

The woman was alone in the car at the time of the fight. The police found narcotics after the collision. Uusikivi does not take a more specific position on the number, but says that there were “enough” that the woman is also suspected of a serious drug crime.

All in all, the woman is suspected of an aggravated narcotics crime, aggravated endangering traffic safety, aggravated drunk driving, drug use offense and driving a vehicle without a license.

The Helsinki District Court imprisoned the woman on suspicion of probable cause on March 26. He had been released from pretrial detention related to the events in Kalasatama just two months earlier.

The criminal suspicions are not related to the Kalasatama case, which is still under consideration.

The woman’s lawyer, Juha-Pekka Hippi, tells Iltalehte that the Kalasatama case is in no way related to the criminal suspicions in question.

If the woman is not released from pre-trial detention, the prosecutor must file charges for the March assault by May 23. In the case of Kalasatama, there is no longer a corresponding time limit and the prosecution is still in progress.

In recent years, the woman has also been convicted in the district court for drug and traffic offences.

The prosecutor acquitted

The woman spent months in pretrial detention. During that time, he also ran away once. The woman climbed over the prison fence. He was caught after an hour and returned to prison, MTV reported in October.

The woman was the main suspect in the criminal investigation. After the Kalasatama death case moved to prosecution in January, the prosecutor decided that there is no longer any reason to suspect the woman of intentional homicide. At that time, he was released from pretrial detention.

At the time, attorney Hippi said that his boss was “very relieved” about it.
