A 29-year-old from Metzervis at the helm

He is 29 years old, he has just become a father, he works in Luxembourg. He appeared on Tuesday, September 3 before the Thionville Criminal Court for corruption of minors. Tall, dark, mid-length hair, glasses on his nose, jogging pants and sneakers on his feet, he admits to having exchanged with two teenage girls on the social network Instagram, for several months. “They were simply messages, it remains virtual,” he believes.

The conversations quickly took on a sexual character. “You know, a man’s ego…”, he tries to justify. He is speaking to two young girls that he did not choose by chance. He knows their family, their uncle, their father, their brother. He meets them at the stadium on Sunday in Metzervisse. But he only speaks to them through a screen. He compliments them on their physique, sends suggestive photos, questions them about their virginity, asks for images of their naked bodies. He will even send a video of his filmed lovemaking with his girlfriend of the moment.

The teenagers finally broke the silence that he had asked them to keep. Because the consequences on the victims are very real. The two young girls agreed to testify at the trial. They say that they felt spied on. “I didn’t go out anymore for fear of running into him,” confided one of them.

Decision rendered on October 1st

“There are two of us in a conversation,” the defendant defends himself. In court, he prefers to talk about himself. “I’m trying to get my life back on track. I had to leave,” he complains. “I may have done something horrible, but what I’m experiencing, I wouldn’t wish on anyone.” The boy mentions in particular the threats he has been subjected to since the facts were revealed.

His reaction does not convince the public prosecutor. On the contrary. “The gentleman has no awareness of his actions,” deplores the deputy prosecutor. She requests two years in prison, one of which is suspended, with a ban on contact with the victims and an obligation to seek treatment. Finally, she requests that the defendant be banned from any activity with minors for ten years and that he be registered in the criminal register of perpetrators of sexual offences. “Terrible demands,” according to the defence. “This gives the impression that we are trying a pedophile,” the defence lawyer, Mr. Pawlik, gets carried away. He pleads for a less severe sentence and dismisses the request for psychological support.

The court will deliver its decision on October 1.
