A witness tried to interrupt the suspect, a 26-year-old young man, but was met with a barrage of death threats. The man suspected of having killed the swan has been arrested and will later be summoned to court.
His gesture cannot be explained. A 26-year-old Strasbourg man was arrested on Wednesday after throwing a stone and killing a swan at Lake Baggersee in Illkirch-Graffenstaden, the Bas-Rhin national police announced.
She specifies that the suspect is being prosecuted for acts of cruelty to an animal and threatens.
A witness tries to arrest him
On Wednesday, a witness walking by the lake saw a man throwing stones at a family of swans. The witness did try to intervene to stop the young man in his tracks. In vain, he simply suffered a shower of death threats and failed to arrest the suspect who killed the little swan.
The Strasbourg animal protection society (SPA) was quick to react by filing a complaint against the suspect. The 26-year-old will have to answer for his actions in court within a few days, said the Bas-Rhin national police.
