Correctional officers of Lai Chi Kok Reception Center stopped a male remand person in custody from assaulting a staff member.
The Correctional Services Department said that at about 11:00 this morning, a 23-year-old male remand inmate suspected of losing control of his emotions during an interview in the clinical psychologist’s office and attacked a clinical psychologist. The correctional officers present stopped immediately.
The attacked clinical psychologist suffered from head discomfort. After being examined and diagnosed by the hospital doctor, he was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The attacker was not injured. The incident has been referred to the police for investigation.
The attacker was remanded in July this year for possession of an offensive weapon.
