The girl suffers from Wilson’s Syndrome and needs an urgent transplant in Turkey

A 19-year-old student is fighting for her life to raise her 6-year-old brother. The girl suffers from Wilson’s Syndrome and needs an urgent transplant in Turkey. However, the sum of BGN 180,000 is too much for her family. Tonight, her friends and relatives organized an unprecedented donation drive in the center of Plovdiv. They went around the squares and restaurants along the main street with charity boxes.

A few days ago, 19-year-old Anita Chobanova from Asenovgrad fainted in the store where she worked. Her colleagues immediately take her to the hospital, where she hears the terrible diagnosis of Wilson’s Syndrome.

“There is a silent disease. In the beginning, it is completely asymptomatic. The doctors said that, in general, there is no active medical treatment for this disease, and it will be necessary to do a liver transplant, most likely in Turkey”, says Anita Chobanova.

Her friend contacted a clinic in Istanbul.

“We are waiting for their offer and whether they will accept it. We are very much looking forward to this phone call. The doctors say that through transplantation they give her very good chances to lead a calm and normal life”, explained Ivan Dimitrov.

However, this hope has an excessively high price – BGN 180,000. Anita is a student of “Linguistics and Informatics” at Plovdiv University. He studies regularly and works. Her parents are separated. Her mother is abroad. And Anita alone takes care of her 6-year-old brother, who lives with her grandmother.

“He kept calling me. “How, you’re going to be fine, aren’t you? You’ll still be by my side, won’t you?” He’s one of my biggest strengths, if I’m honest,” says Anita.

Her father is ready to help.

“I am ready to become a donor so that everything can go well for the transplant,” said Zivko Chobanov.

And this evening dozens of Anita’s colleagues and friends organized a campaign in the center of Plovdiv.
