In his research, Wollin gives several reasons why the composition is said to be Mozart’s. Among other things, he draws the link to the place and time in which the piece was written, which is 1771 in Milan. That is according to how Mozart stayed in Milan for a wedding. Moreover, a few decades later the work was named and associated with Mozart Breitkopf & Härtel Directory.
Duncan and Wollin are convinced that the work was written by Mozart, but it has not yet been confirmed by other researchers and the Mozarteum Foundation. This is a foundation that maintains and studies Mozart’s music.
On October 16, 2024, the piece will be heard again after more than 250 years in Graz, the place where the work was rediscovered.
