The 12 foot tall puppet is in the US for a 17 day tour. According to the New York Times, the puppet will tour the five boroughs, meeting children, artists, politicians and community leaders as he searches for his uncle and, hopefully his creators, help unearth the experience, hardship and beauty of millions. of displaced refugees.
The puppet will pick flowers in a community garden in Queens, cross the High Bridge in the Bronx, board the Staten Island ferry, dance the streets of Washington Heights, and find himself in the middle of a Syrian wedding procession at Bay Ridge.

Amal, which means hope in Arabic, has already traveled nearly 8,000km across Europe, from the Syrian-Turkish border to Manchester in the north-west of England. He traveled through 12 countries, including welcoming Ukrainian refugees at a Polish train station and stopping in refugee camps in Greece, and meeting Pope Francis, according to an ABC report.
