JAKARTA – U-19 Indonesian national team recently completed training camp (TC) in Croatia. One of the highlights during the TC process was the summoning of a number of descent players to participate in defending Garuda Muda.
The result is quite satisfying. Names such as Elkan Baggott, Jack Brown, and Kelana Noah Mahessa succeeded in making the Indonesian National Team Coach, Shin Tae-yong, give praise.
Therefore, for the next U-19 Indonesian National Team TC, the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, chose the Netherlands as the destination. The reason is, in the Land of Windmills there are many players who still have Indonesian blood.

“Why did we choose the Netherlands (as the place for the next U-19 Indonesian National Team TC)? There are a lot of good teams there and they are also in the second FIFA rankings. Second, there are many Indonesian-blooded players, so you can do it, ”said Iriawan when welcoming the U-19 Indonesian national team from Croatia.
However, Iriawan will submit the selection process to Shin Tae-yong and also the Technical Director of the Indonesian National Team, Indra Sjafri. Because after all, Shin Tae-yong was the one who had the most authority in selecting players for his team.
Shin Tae-yong himself really opens up opportunities for players of descent to defend Indonesia. As an example, it can be seen when calling Kelana and Luah Fynn Jeremy Mahesa.
The two players were actually not summoned from the beginning of the TC to join the U-19 Indonesian National Team. However, because TC’s location is in Croatia and the two players live in Germany, Shin Tae-yong also tries to try them out.
“Who knows there are (descendants of players who match the criteria in the Netherlands), because I myself did not interfere. We leave everything related to the players to coach Shin Tae-yong and also the Technical Director, Indra Sjafri, “explained Iriawan.
“Therefore, it is planned to go there, but in the road map there is a visa to the Netherlands but there must be correspondence first. There must be permission from the federation there and the government there, ”added the 58-year-old man.
Currently, the U-19 Indonesian National Team is being prepared to appear in the 2021 U-20 World Cup finals. Therefore, all programs are also being trained by PSSI to improve the quality level of the U-19 Indonesia National Team squad.
