Apple buys AI company to improve apps

Apple acquired the Vilynx company earlier this year, reports Bloomberg. Vilynx is specialized in artificial intelligence.

Vilnyx described himself, on his now-deleted website, as ‘AI for media’. The company specialized in understanding what is in a video. The company also worked on technology to give users better recommendations for subsequent videos and other media.

Improve apps

The acquisition could be intended to improve apps such as Photos and voice assistant Siri. The technology could also be used in Apple’s television services. Apple itself rarely discloses the purpose of acquisitions.

Apple would have paid about $ 50 million for the acquisition, sources say. Around 50 employees of the company, including co-founder Elisenda Bou-Balust, are now said to work for Apple. The Barcelona office will continue to exist.
