Kia plans to change its corporate logo early next year. As reported Automotive News with reference to the CEO of the Korean concern Ho Sun Sung, this will happen as part of a global plan called Plan S, which involves switching the brand to electric cars and hybrid models.
It is expected that by 2025 the Korean company will have at least 11 electric cars in its model range. Kia plans to spend $ 25 billion on their creation.
“We will try to find a new target audience in the process of relaunching our brand,” explained the top manager.
All of Kia’s new electric cars will be built on the Electric-Global (E-GMP) platform, which is also used by Hyundai. Koreans hope their green models will account for at least 20% of global sales by 2025.
The brand’s new logo features interconnected letters that can be black or white. Similarly styled symbols were used by Kia on the Imagined by Kia electric concept car that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show last March, but it remains to be seen whether the new badge will be used on all of the company’s models, or whether it was created specifically for vehicles with hybrid and fully electric power plants.
At the moment, Kia is already selling some of its cars with separate logos. For example, in South Korea, the Stinger sports liftback is sold with the E emblem. In addition, a separate unique logo has been created for the new generation Mohave flagship SUV.
