iPad version of Office now works with mouse | NOW

The iPad version of Microsoft Office can now be properly controlled with a connected mouse or trackpad. Microsoft announced this on its blog on Tuesday.

The new update will be made available in phases, which, according to the tech giant, may take “a few weeks” until everyone can use it.

Earlier this year Apple added mouse support to iPadOS, allowing the operating system to be operated with a mouse pointer. The functionality works with bluetooth devices and trackpads on the bottom of Apple’s own keyboard cover.

Although the mouse also appeared in Microsoft Office, the productivity software was not yet functioning as expected. A recent update ensures that the mouse functions as expected.

Similar to computers

With the update, the iPad version of Office should measure itself more against the desktop software, which can be operated in a similar way. With the mouse you can adjust photo size or select text.

The home screen of the Office apps has also been updated with a modernized and lighter design. According to Microsoft, this is in line with the design of other Microsoft 365 services.
