As we enter a new console generation, the debate rages as usual about which machine will deliver the best experience. However, in terms of resolution and frame rate of third-party games, it seems that the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are similar.
Ubisoft has set next-generation goals for a number of its existing and upcoming games. Via their websites The developer explains that games will consistently run exactly the same on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, while the Xbox Series S lags a short distance behind.

As Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier comments on Twitter, this means that Microsoft has a better starting point this time than was the case for the current console generation.

While the PlayStation 4 mostly delivered 1080p resolution, Xbox One gamers had to settle for that 900p in a series of games from third-party developers. While most people probably would not have noticed the big difference, there was a lot of talk, which meant that Microsoft ended up behind in the race from day one.
As Schreier further points out, it remains to be seen exactly how the upcoming consoles will run. However, Ubisoft has added the list for both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, with 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on games such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising and Far Cry 6.
