Uber announces its entry into Santa Fe (Argentina)
The transport company Uber announced the incorporation of its services in the city of Santa Fe, in Argentina, despite the fact that the activity is not regulated in municipal regulations.
According to a statement released by the firm, the platform will incorporate Uber Essential, a product designed for the context of a pandemic that offers a mobility service, through technology, to excepted people who need to travel.
The administration of passenger transport is the responsibility of the Santa Fe Municipality, which does not include Uber within the authorized services.
If Uber wanted to provide services in the city of Santa Fe, it should have a regulation by the Council and its regulation by the Executive.
At the moment, the Municipality will not give importance to the announcements of the company until the service offers from Uber are finalized.
“We cannot act only on advertisements. When the applications are online and these services are offered, we will present the corresponding complaint, because that company is not authorized to provide the service ”.
It should be noted that, on repeated occasions, representatives of the city’s taxi sector expressed their rejection of the arrival of Uber, since they see the service as unfair competition, beyond operating without the necessary authorizations.
