“We have been monitoring the situation for the last few days. I was in contact with the regional coordinator, who told me that it was possible that the need for beds in the backup hospital would arise. We also talked to the directors of Brno hospitals and the development is not very favorable, “said Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).

Volunteers will also be needed
The hospital is being built by the city, but the operation should be provided by the University Hospital Brno established by the state. “She will provide doctors and nurses. However, a large number of support staff such as paramedics and the like is still needed. Volunteers are planned, the Czech Red Cross should help, there is already some training of volunteers to have a minimum, “said Vaňková.

A field hospital was also opened in early April in Bergamo, Italy, which was the most affected city at the beginning of the pandemic.
