The state of alarm ends on June 22 but there are still many doubts about how and when to pass the ITV.
1.-Do I have to wait for the alarm status to be lifted to pass the ITV to my vehicle?
Since Red Itevelesa They tell us that it is not necessary to exhaust the period of the extension to pass the ITV. If you ITV is expired you should go as soon as possible to pass the inspection.
Furthermore, we must not forget that ITV extension has been established by Order SND / 413/2020, which holds that all vehicles that have seen their ITV expired during the alarm state will have an extension. This will depend on the date the inspection expired and the date of the alarm status. Still, if the inspection of a vehicle has expired, it is best for your safety to carry out the ITV inspection as soon as possible.
These are the extensions to pass the ITV:
Initial inspection date |
Extension period (calendar days) |
Week 1: March 14-20 |
30 days plus 15 additional days |
Week 2: March 21-27 |
30 days plus 2 additional 15-day periods |
Week 3: March 28 to April 3 |
30 days plus 3 additional 15-day periods |
Week “n” |
30 days plus “n” periods of 15 additional days |
2.-Is the original date of the ITV Card kept?
If the expiration of your ITV has occurred during the alarm state and you must pass it now, You will be assigned the due date of the previous inspection and not the date of the extension. This is stated in Order SND / 413/2020, of May 15, which regulates that “the technical inspection of vehicles will take as a reference the validity date that appears on the ITV Card and will not compute, in any case, the extension of the certificates granted as a result of the declaration of the state of alarm and its successive extensions ”.
Thus, for example, if the ITV of a tourism expired on March 30, 2020 and it must pass the inspection annually, the date to pass its next inspection will be March 30, 2021, regardless of the date on which, currently, do your inspection.
3.- What happens if before the state of alarm I made an appointment to pass the ITV to my car and it was not possible to do it?
There have been cases of people who booked and paid an appointment to pass the technical inspection of their vehicle and these could not be carried out. Red Itevelesa stresses that there is no problem if the client paid for the review before the health crisis and it was canceled. “The payment will not have an expiration date; in this way, the client will only have to show his receipt at the station when he goes to his new appointment ”.
