Hamas criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ANKARA – Hamas last Saturday, responded to France with criticism. The reason is, the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad SAW that were published, including Islamic symbols, were seen as degrading Islamic values.
“French President Emmanuel’s encouragement Macron to publish cartoons insulting Prophet Muhammad SAW, is an attempt to revive the Crusades in which France was the source of the debut, “said Sami Abu Zuhri, senior spokesman for the Palestinian group Hamas, citing Anadolu Agency, Sunday (25/10).
He added, the cartoon publication was also done to provoke. In particular, Muslim feelings and aggression towards their religion and beliefs.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the murder that killed Samuel Paty, a history teacher at Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris, who was found dead on Friday (16/10), with his head severed.
In a speech on Wednesday (21/10), Macron accused a domestic militant Islamic group of involvement in the case and ordered the group known as Collective Cheikh Yassine to be disbanded. The group is known to have been founded in the early 2000s by a man who was one of the perpetrators of Paty’s murder.
On the same occasion, Macron instructed the Pantin Mosque, a mosque on the northeastern outskirts of Paris, to close. The closure was carried out after it was discovered, one of his congregation, who is the guardian of the student at Paty’s teaching place, had submitted a complaint on social media and said that Paty had asked his daughter, and several other Muslim students to leave the classroom.
Currently a sign that says the mosque is closed for six months, as well as a six-month prison sentence for violators, is installed at the entrance to the mosque.
The current French president is also actively waging war against a movement he calls “separatism”, a reference to Islamic extremism which authorities say has created a parallel world in the country that goes against French values.
