Franco Morbidelli perform brilliantly on MotoGP Teruel 2020. He won and succeeded in winning over the Suzuki duo, Alex Rins and Joan Mir.
At the Aragon MotorLand Circuit, Sunday (25/10), riders Petronas Yamaha SRT it completed 23 laps in a record time of 41 minutes 47.652 seconds. Rins followed with a difference of 2.205 seconds followed by Mir, who was 5.376 seconds from the champion.
These results make Morbidelli poke into fourth place in the standings with 112 points. He is still 25 points behind Mir, who is increasingly solid at the top of the standings. Fabio Quartararo is in second place with 123 points, followed Maverick Vinales with 118 points.
The course of the race
MOTOGP TERUEL BEGINS! Takaaki Nakagami leads the race, but crashes immediately at the start of the race. Franco Morbidelli took the pole position, followed by Alex Rins, Johann Zarco, and Maverick Vinales.
Meanwhile, Jack Miller and Brad Binder also crashed on the first lap. Joan Mir, the leader of the 2020 MotoGP standings, managed to accelerate from 12th to fifth, overtaking Fabio Quartararo who was stagnant in 6th place.
With 20 laps remaining, the situation in the top five has not changed. However Alex Marquez poked into sixth, shifting Quartararo to seventh position. On the fifth lap, Andrea Dovizioso also slowly progressing and are 12th after starting 17th.
Mir overtook Vinales on lap six, followed by Marquez! Vinales also slipped to sixth. Mir is fourth, and Marquez fifth. Morbidelli was still in front, followed by Rins. Zarco is a little further behind, but still third.
The race left 13 laps, and there was a gap between the riders in the front row. Rins in second is about 2.1 seconds from Zarco in third, and Marquez in fifth is 2.5 seconds from Vinales in sixth.
Mir overtook the top three on lap 12! Alex Marquez also followed to fourth, Zarco also slipped to fifth. Morbidelli is now starting to move away, 0.6 seconds ahead of Rins. Quartararo slipped to ninth, and Dovizioso advanced to 11th.
With 11 laps remaining, Quartararo pushed his way to eighth. Vinales is in front of him. Meanwhile, Pol Espargaro has filled the sixth position.
Alex Marquez crash! In the remaining 10 laps, he fell at the second corner. Marc Marquez’s younger brother failed to continue his positive performance at MotorLand Aragon. With 9 laps remaining, Quartararo is seventh. Dovizioso again advanced to ninth position.
Ouch! Quartararo was overtaken by Miguel Oliveira in the remaining 8 laps, the French rider slipped back to eighth. The top three positions are still Morbidelli, Rins and Mir. In the remaining 7 laps, Dovizioso even slipped to 12th. Looks not a good day for the Ducati rider.
Five more laps, and Morbidelli continues to walk away from Rins. Their difference has become 1 second. Meanwhile, Vinales was overtaken by Oliveira, who rose to sixth place.
With three laps remaining, Morbidelli was 1.2 seconds ahead of Rins, who was 2.6 seconds ahead of Mir. The gap in the top three. Pol Espargaro followed in fourth, followed by Zarco and Oliveira.
The race left two more laps, and the number of riders decreased. This time it was Aleix Espargaro who had to finish the race first. There seems to be a problem with the motorbike.
On the last lap, Morbidelli was steady up front. He looks like he will win his second in MotoGP 2020, after the San Marino MotoGP.
FINIS! Morbidelli became the winner of the MotoGP Teruel 2020. Rins and Mir followed in third. Espargaro, Zarco, Oliveira, Vinales, Quartararo, Iker Lecuona, and Danilo Petrucci complete positions 4 to 10. While Dovizioso finished in 13th.
