11H05 – Accumulated number of contagions in Russia exceeded 1.5 million
Russia today surpassed 1.5 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus, after 16,710 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours, announced the center that coordinates the fight against the pandemic.
Of the new cases, 4,456 are asymptomatic. Since the most recent assessment, 229 people with covid-19 in 84 regions have died in Russia.
Most contagions occurred in the capital, Moscow (4,455), where 1,072 more people were hospitalized in the last 24 hours, followed by St. Petersburg, with 709 new cases.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobianin said the number of new daily contagions had stabilized, hoping it would peak and then begin to decline.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ruled out the adoption of restrictive measures at the national level as it happened in the spring.

10H35 – Africa passes 1.7 million infected
Africa today passed the 1.7 million infected and registered in the last 24 hours more 223 deaths due to the covid-19, in a total of 41,145 deaths, according to the most recent pandemic data in the continent.
According to the African Union’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), in the 55 member states of the organization there were 11,456 more infected, totaling 1,707,741, and the number of recovered people rose by 5,144 in the last 24 hours, to an total of 1,399,238.
Southern Africa continues to record the highest number of infections and deaths, with 790,384 infected and 20,376 killed. In this region, only South Africa, the continent’s most affected country, accounts for 714,246 cases and 18,944 fatalities.
North Africa, the second most affected area by the pandemic, has 467,301 people infected and 13,123 dead and in East Africa there are 203,095 infected and 3,786 fatalities.
In the West African region, the number of infections is 187,224, with 2,727 fatalities, and in Central Africa there are 59,737 cases and 1,133 deaths.

The United States has recorded 906 deaths by covid-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the independent count from Johns Hopkins University.
With this balance, the country reached 224,751 deaths, with more than 8.5 million confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, after 88,973 infections were identified in the last 24 hours. –

Brazil has accounted for 432 deaths and 26,979 cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the executive announced, adding that he is still investigating the possible relationship of 2,297 deaths with the disease.
In total, the South American country concentrates 156,903 fatalities and 5,380,635 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, officially registered in Brazil on February 26.-

The Argentine President is going to sign today a decree-law that reopens the air border to tourists from neighboring countries, focusing on Brazilians, responsible for half of foreign tourism, announced the Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens.
The sudden change, in full quarantine, does not include European tourists and is associated with the Argentine urgency for foreign exchange, in a very weak economy. Brazilians are also those who spend the most, according to official data.
“It is a reopening for foreign tourists from bordering countries. It will be in the decree that will be signed this Sunday by President Alberto Fernández.
