Legia.Net – Legia Warszawa – Czesław Michniewicz: We really wanted to score three points

– We really wanted to score three points in Szczecin, although we knew that Pogoń was in good shape. We hoped to score goals that would give us victory. It did not happen – said the coach of Legia, Czesław Michniewicz, at the conference after the match against Pogoń.

– We were not as effective as in the game against Śląsk Wrocław, where we scored two goals. On Saturday, there were plenty of situations, but either we couldn’t turn any into a goal, or in some actions – which we should have played differently – we took the wrong options. And therefore it was not possible to use them. I wish we had won. There were situations for this even at the end of the match, but it must be said that Pogoń also played a good match and I think that she could also try to score one or two.

– Was there a risk that Igor Lewczuk would not finish the meeting in Szczecin? Yes. It was a very ugly, dangerous bump of heads with Luka Zahovic. These are the things that happen in football. Igor is a tough man, he managed to bandage his head, there was no major bleeding and he played the game to the end. Praise him for that, because there was only William Remy on the bench, who is not ready to play yet – he came here to be with us and felt the atmosphere of the league match again, because he was long gone. We made only two changes. On the bench there was, among others Andre Martins, who could play in the midfield and is in training, and Luis Rocha, but there was no need to change in this position. We didn’t have any other offensive changes. Jose Kante is only the second day in training and it was too early to play. If there was such a need, perhaps we would be tempted to do so. There was such a risk that Tomas Pekhart would not start the game from the first minute. Then we would take a risk and put Kante in the basic squad. We talked with him, we also paid attention to the opinion of our therapists and we realized that it would be better if he didn’t show up on the pitch in Szczecin.

– There was intensity, excellent for pressing. There were really a dozen interesting moments in this match. But there is no sound from the stands and the meeting looks strange at times. We all learn from this situation, we must accept it. Points scored without fans are very important. Because at the end there will be a table and no one will be watching whether we were scoring points with the fans at the stadium or without.
