The Day of the Dead will be celebrated next weekend, but this Friday an exhibition was inaugurated at the Green-Wood Cemetery, in Brooklyn
It is shown by a large altar, designed by the Dominican artist Scherezade Garcia, full of offerings.
In this way, the historic national cemetery joins the party that brings together family members to honor the deceased faithful.
All New Yorkers are invited to bring personal offerings to place on the altar, such as flowers, photographs, notes, among other objects.
One of the visitors shared her impressions: “I came today to this beautiful cemetery to this Dia de los Muetos exhibition, which is very deep for me as a Latina. The artist who made the wall inside feels a lot of life, color, it is very beautiful. so cute”.
The event is free and will take place until the first of November, from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon.
All visitors must wear a mask and maintain social distance.
