The dissolution of the ‘mini-demonstrations’ as the police call them happened without any significant incident. The events were organized by ADEV (Amsterdam Danst Ergens Voor), which is committed to “places of freedom and self-determination.”
On the ADEV website it was already stated in advance that no route would be announced in advance and that there would be ‘decentralized’ dancing. Participants were urged to use “common sense” and “keep a healthy distance” from others. “It would be unfortunate if your self-determination action ended in a punishment order.” The organization also made the appeal: “Leave the public space a bit more relaxed. After all, these harsh times could use some positivity. ”
Cyclists
Among other things, the police encountered 150 to 200 cycling protesters on the Amstelveenseweg, for which they did not have permission. “At one point the large group split into smaller groups and those groups of protesters then spread through the city,” said the police. At the location designated for the demonstration, the head of Java Island, about thirty demonstrators showed up after 5 p.m., while they had until then. After an hour they were sent away. That did not cause major problems.
