In a suburb of Chicago, a police officer has been fired for shooting an unarmed black man this week. According to the police chief of the city of Waukegan, the officer has violated several rules in his act.
The incident was Tuesday night. The victim was in a car that police said had driven through at a traffic check earlier in the evening. When a police officer saw the car again and walked towards it, the car reversed in his direction, police said. Because he said he feared for his life, he opened fire.
The co-driver, 19-year-old Marcellis Stinnette, was killed. His girlfriend, who was driving the car, was injured. No weapons were found in the car.
