Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
President of the United States Donald Trump expressed his hope that Saudi Arabia would follow in his footsteps United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan to normalize relations with Israel. Saudi is one of the Arab regional powers.
Without elaborating, Trump claims so far he has at least five countries that claim to normalize relations with Israel.
“We have at least five more who want to enter [normalisasi hubungan dengan Israel] and we will have more of that soon, “Trump said after announcing the peace agreement between Sudan and Israel in the Oval Office, White House as quoted AFP.
Sudan is the sixth country after Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, UAE and Bahrain to declare opening diplomatic relations with Israel.
Trump called the normalization agreement this time a major victory for the US and world peace.
This announcement of peace at the same time ended the long hostility between Sudan and Israel over the last few decades.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said normalizing relations would change the Middle East region.
“Today Khartoum said yes to peace with Israel, yes to recognition of Israel and yes to normalization of relations with Israel,” he said in a Hebrew statement.
Sudanese civilian minister Abdulla Hamdok thanked Trump without mentioning his confession over Israel.
“This decision will open wide the door for a viable Sudanese return to the international community and the global financial and banking sector, as well as regional and international investment,” Hamdok’s office said in a statement.
