Hard blow for New York City FC

soccer/mls/story">

New York City FC forward Heber will miss the rest of the season 2020 after suffering a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee.

The 29-year-old Brazilian suffered an injury against Toronto FC on Wednesday night. He should go under the knife soon.

Heber was having a tough 2020 season with a slim one-goal crop and two assists in 12 appearances. He shone last year, however, with 15 goals and four assists in just 22 appearances.

New York City FC are currently sixth overall in the East on 17 points in 13 games.

BWP, player of the week

Los Angeles FC forward Bradley Wright-Phillips was named player of the last week in MLS.

“BWP” scored two goals in eleven minutes on Wednesday as LAFC defeated the Whitecaps 6-0.

The 35-year-old Englishman, one of the best forwards of the past ten years in MLS, is enjoying a new lease on life in California after struggling in 2019, when he had only scored two goals and four assists in 24 appearances for the Red Bulls.

This year, the number 66 is seven goals and two assists in just 11 appearances.

A deal for Aaronson

Philadelphia Union midfielder Brenden Aaronson, one of the league’s most promising players, reportedly set to transfer to Red Bull Salzburg, in Austria.

The two clubs, however, have not confirmed anything so far, although the deal would be made.

Aaronson, who is just 19, hatched last season before exploding this year and establishing himself as one of the key players on one of MLS’s top teams.

Versatile, technical midfielder, fine passer and tough in recovery, Aaronson has been attracting the envy of certain European teams for a few months now. In Salzburg, he would join his compatriot Jesse Marsch: the former Impact coach occupies the same position with Red Bull.

Aaronson has three goals and as many assists this season in 13 games.
