He Government delegate in Galicia, Javier Losada, has held a video conference with the mayors of the O Burgo estuary to address the situation of blockade in which the integral dredging project finds itself. Losada maintains that there are no political discrepancies between State and Xunta, but of a legal nature that prevent progress in the award of works. Calls on Feijóo move token once he takes possession.
The question lies in the difference in criteria of the legal services as to whether the Xunta has to certify that the land where the work will be done is free of charge. The dredging will be done yes or yes, according to the government delegate.
“I hope that immediately the president of the Xunta will indicate to the legal advisory office to contact the state attorney of the Ministry and that the two institutions will give us a legal response to be able to continue the process,” said Javier Losada, who He added: “yes or yes regeneration is going to be done.”
The Minister for the Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, has recently sent a letter to Feijóo to try to unblock the matter. The delegate confirms that the money is committed to make the cleanup a reality in this legislature.
This is a question that is questioned by the Minister of Infrastructure, Ethel Vázquez, who believes that the central government has difficulty obtaining funding. “The serious problem is that the government of Spain does not have the money and is tangling with a role that is not the problem,” said Ethel Vazquez in an interview on Radio Coruña Cadena SER.
It maintains that the requirement of documentation on the actual availability of the land where the cleaning will be carried out is a mere apology. The Xunta’s Legal Advisory Office is already in contact with the State Attorney’s Office to discuss possible solutions, according to the Department. He insists that the dredging should not imply the cessation of activity of the shellfish fishermen months before the start of the works. The Head of Infrastructure accuses the Government Delegate of “lack of constructive spirit” after summoning the City Councils of the estuary to a meeting in which, according to Vázquez, no progress or solutions were addressed to tender the Ría regeneration project do Burgo.
