“I always knew I would know when the time came to say goodbye to you – and the moment is here,” she wrote in a message she addressed to tennis. “Thank you so much for everything you’ve given me, you’ll be in my heart forever,” she confessed.
During her career, Görges won seven WTA tournament titles, the most valuable of which she celebrated in 2011 in Stuttgart. She last enjoyed the trophy last year in Auckland. In the world rankings, her maximum was ninth place.
