What about changing, washing, repairing or buying a car during a lockdown?

The government has not closed car repair shops as part of spring measures, and this is not happening as part of the October “second wave”. Follow-up towing services also remain in operation.

As in the spring, massive measures affect the season for tire repair shops. This time, moreover, changing to winter shoes is indirectly enforced by Act No. 133/2011 Coll ..

From 1 November, it is mandatory to have winter tires, which you can recognize by the alpine symbol with a snowflake or by the letters M + S on the sidewall. At least in the case of a continuous layer of snow and ice on the road or if such conditions can be expected. With the exception of roads marked with the mandatory winter equipment, where you have to have winter rubber from 1 November to 31 March, even if the tropics occur.

While you have to wait with the hairdresser, your car can go to the dishwasher. The restrictions published on Wednesday do not apply to car washes either.

But you can’t buy a car – whether used or new. With the fact that the online sale of cars in the Czech Republic is still in its infancy and only some brands offer it for limited services such as operating leasing, it will usually be necessary to wait with this administration.

“We are pleased to be able to continue servicing to ensure the mobility of all our customers, thanks to an exception to the measure. Customers can use the online platform, where it is possible to order a car for operational leasing from the comfort of home without having to physically visit the dealer, ”said Jiří Maláček, head of the Czech representation of Škoda Auto.

“We are ready to respect all government measures in order to maintain the health of our employees and customers. Nevertheless, it should be emphasized that the spring inclusion of showrooms in the first wave of dismantling has shown that new car dealerships do not affect the spread of coronavirus due to the nature of this business and the low concentration of people in the establishments. That is why we are discussing this issue with the government of the Czech Republic, “adds Maláček.

The new restrictions apply until November 3, ie until the end of the emergency.
