The American pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of the addictive analgesic OxyContin, pleaded guilty in federal court on three allegations related to the opiate crisis on Wednesday. The company will pay over eight billion dollars (183.4 billion CZK) and must close down, the AP agency reported. Among other things, the company admitted that it paid doctors to issue more prescriptions for drugs containing addictive opiates.
