These are the figures for the last 24 hours regarding the situation caused by covid-19 in Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Spain
The Spanish Ministry of Health registered another 13,873 new infections, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 974,449, according to data announced by the Spanish health authorities.
It should be noted that of this total, 5,314 correspond to the last 24 hours, while the rest refer to the previous days, in the case of cases that had not been notified.
Madrid continues to be the autonomous community with the highest number of new infections, registering more than 1,900 new cases today, of which 920 correspond to the last 24 hours, which is why it has been in a state of emergency since 9 October.
Spain adds an additional 218 deaths to the official count, which means that the total figure is already around 34,210 deaths, according to Tuesday’s balance sheet.
It should be taken into account that these data do not include those who died in nursing homes or who did not undergo the diagnostic test despite having symptoms compatible with the viral disease.
Italy
Italy has registered 10,874 infections with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, as well as 89 new fatalities, according to the Italian Ministry of Health.
Since the covid-19 pandemic appeared in the country on February 21, 434,449 infections have been reported, which have caused 36,705 deaths, according to Italian authorities.
The number of active cases in Italy is now 142,739, with 8,454 people admitted to hospitals, 778 more than on Monday.
In turn, the number of inpatients in intensive care in the last 24 hours is 870, 73 more than the previous day.
The regions with the most cases detected on the last day were Lombardia with 2,023 daily infections, Piedmont with 1,396 new infections and Campania with 1,312 new cases.
United Kingdom
The UK has recorded 21,331 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 762,542 since the pandemic began in the country, according to the British Ministry of Health.
With regard to deaths, another 241 were recorded, currently totaling 58,164 fatalities.
There are an additional 6,431 patients hospitalized in the last 24 hours, of which 629 are in intensive care units. The total is 155,083.
Globally, the Covid-19 pandemic has infected more than 40.5 million people, causing more than 1.1 million fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
