On Sunday around 2.30 pm, a 28-year-old woman from Diest was driving in the Omer Vanaudenhovenlaan when she suddenly noticed a spider on her dashboard. When she tried to sweep it away, she lost control of her steering wheel, collided with a curb and flew onto a concrete fence. In the car were two small children, one of whom was slightly injured. All occupants were taken to hospital.
On Monday afternoon, around 4.15 pm, a rear-end collision took place along the Kortrijkse Heerweg, on the border of Deerlijk and Harelbeke. The young driver bumped into the Opel Insignia in front of her with her Volkswagen Polo when she was focused on the spider in her car. The woman was hit hard and complained of pain in the head and chest. She was also taken to hospital. The driver of the Opel was not injured.
