Raemon Sluiter will not continue as coach of Julia Görges. The Rotterdammer and the experienced German tennis player have jointly decided to put an end to the collaboration, Sluiter confirms on Sunday after reporting The Telegraph.
Sluiter and the 31-year-old Görges had a trial period of several months, in which the current number 45 in the world rankings could hardly take action due to the corona crisis. After Roland Garros, the trial period was over and now it has become clear that it will stop there.
Görges was number nine in the world rankings in 2018 and reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon that year. She is a good friend of Kiki Bertens, with whom the 42-year-old Sluiter previously worked very successfully.
Under the leadership of Sluiter, Bertens reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros and the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and rose to fourth position in the world rankings.
At the end of 2019, the collaboration between Bertens and Sluiter came to an end. The 28-year-old leader of Dutch tennis is now coached by Elise Tamaëla.
