Ines De Vos, Bart De Pauw’s wife, acknowledges that her husband “did things that are not okay” in the past, but does not consider them weighty enough to justify a lawsuit. She says that in Het Laatste Nieuws. In it she also lashes out at the then top man of the VRT, Paul Lembrechts. “He knew he was telling lies. But he used it to fabricate a file from which we bear the consequences to this day. ”

Bart De Pauw will be brought to court in the spring of 2021 after a complaint from ten women for unacceptable behavior. “I know how my husband works,” says De Vos. “I know that he sends text messages. Bart is someone who communicates a lot by text message. I am not afraid that there is sometimes a message in between that, regardless of the context, is loose. Which I disapprove for clarity. We’ve talked a lot about that. Bart is a well-known figure. He is sometimes a bit bold. I can imagine that that is sometimes intimidating for people. They think they should be joking. Or have to react wittily. Bart has not correctly estimated that. ” Yet De Kort believes that this case should not be brought to court. “Bart has done things that are not okay. But nothing that should be judged by a criminal judge. ”

The anger of De Vos is therefore mainly focused on Paul Lembrechts, the then top man of the public broadcaster. “That man knew he was telling lies. But he used it to fabricate a file from which we bear the consequences to this day. That is abuse of power. It’s horrible what that man did. As CEO he should have heard all parties. That has kept me busy for three years. ”

De Pauw and De Kort are now demanding 12 million euros in compensation from the VRT. “That is my way of demonstrating to the children that Paul Lembrechts has made serious professional mistakes,” says De Vos.
