The Argentine Ministry of Health announced Thursday that the death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic in the country has exceeded the threshold of 25,000 deaths out of about 950,000 confirmed cases of the virus.
The ministry said that the cumulative number of registered infections in Argentina, the Latin American country with a population of 44 million, reached 949,050, of whom 25,342 died, on Thursday.
She added that the past twenty-four hours had recorded 17,096 new infections and 421 deaths.
And after the Argentine authorities imposed strict quarantine measures throughout the country that lasted for many months, the wheel of life in the country gradually turned around, but large public gatherings and indoor gatherings are still prohibited.
Residents are forbidden to move around the country without wearing a mask.
According to a census prepared by Agence France-Presse, Argentina is the fifth most affected country in the world by Covid-19 in terms of the number of people infected with the virus, and the twelfth country in the world in terms of the number of deaths from the virus.
