André Pirata, registered who was on the run in Braga, was just arrested, around 12:30 pm, by the GNR next to a chapel, where he was hiding.
The suspect was on the run after police chase that culminated in the investigation against a wall of the stolen vehicle in which he was driving and in the accompanying accomplice.
It is recalled that the GNR detained today in Adaúfe, Braga, after a car chase, a man who is said to have been involved in the theft of vehicles in Póvoa de Lanhoso, together with another who ran away.
The man on the run is the same man who on September 24 abandoned his girlfriend outside the S. João da Madeira Hospital, in the Aveiro district, after being shot, allegedly by the PSP.
The 23-year-old woman died.
Today’s chase by GNR happened after a theft occurred in a car in Póvoa de Lanhoso.
The GNR will have given an order to stop the vehicle in which the two suspects were following, but the order was not accepted.
The suspects fled and were chased by the GNR, but ended up straying against a wall in Adaúfe, Braga, where one of them was arrested.
There is a record of damage to a GNR vehicle, allegedly caused by the suspect’s vehicle.
In the early hours of September 24, the PSP detected a suspicious vehicle circulating in an area where several car thefts have occurred, on Avenida do Vale, in São João da Madeira, “with the lights off, stopping by parked vehicles”.
Moments later, the agents heard a noise corresponding to the breaking of the glass of a car parked there, indicating a criminal practice, so they approached its occupants.
During the approach, the PSP says that several shots were fired by the agents, but the suspect vehicle managed to flee the scene, without being able to detain its occupants.
“Later, a citizen with a gunshot wound was admitted to the São João da Madeira Hospital, which is supposed to be related to the occurrence described,” the statement said, adding that the woman went into cardiorespiratory arrest and ended up dying in the hospital.
