Strong work: Loena Hendrickx celebrates comeback after 1.5 years with top score in short freestyle | Figure skating

The Budapest Trophy is Hendrickx’s first performance in a competition in 1.5 years. Due to a series of injuries, she was unable to take action earlier.

But it seemed like she had never left. The 20-year-old from Arendonk drove a flawlessly short program. The first jumps were a bit careful, but as the freestyle progressed, she skated more relaxed.

Loena Hendrickx left the ice relieved and a close hug with brother and coach Jorik followed.

Her score was there: 72.18 points. With that she leads the rankings. In addition, she improves her 2-year-old personal best in the short freestyle with 0.68 points. A great comeback.

The tournament in Budapest will end on Saturday with the free program.
