JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Exhibition made by the Joint Industry Motor vehicle Indonesia ( Gaikindo), Jakarta Auto Week (JAW) which was scheduled for November 21-29 2020 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) was canceled.
JAW is then rescheduled to be early next year, to be precise January 9-17, 2021.
The main reason for the decision, claims the association, is the pandemic conditions corona virus aka Covid-19 in the country which is not yet conducive. In addition, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government still applies large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).
“Public health and safety becomes concern we are still trying to restore the industry automotive national. We have decided to postpone the exhibition so that it can run optimally and smoothly, “said Gaikindo Chairman Yohannes Nangoi when confirmed, Thursday (15/10/2020).

He also did not deny that the re-enforcement of the strict PSBB in DKI Jakarta last September had disrupted the preparation time for the JAW exhibition. Even though the participants already have a fairly mature plan.
“The exhibition at this time is important because it marks the point of awakening of the Indonesian automotive industry. We hope that with this postponement the JAW exhibition can run optimally beyond expectations,” said Nangoi.
In a written statement, it was stated that Gaikindo had drawn up plans for an exhibition to be held at the beginning of the year with the launch of various new vehicle models.
“If there is no cross-examination, Jakarta Auto Week will be auto show the first to take place after almost any event motor vehicle it will be suspended in 2020, “said Rizwan Alamsjah, chairman III and chairman of the Gaikindo Exhibition Organizer.
“We believe that the event will be a very good and eagerly awaited momentum from both brands and the public, who certainly miss the atmosphere of the automotive exhibition,” he continued.

On the same occasion, Rizwan also ensured that if the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic could be overcome and public health and safety was guaranteed, there was no reason for his party not to hold an automotive exhibition.
JAW itself is planned to last nine days at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta with strict health protocols. Ticket purchases can only be made online to minimize direct contact.
“The exhibition in January will be Gaikindo’s effort under the direction of the government to push the Indonesian automotive industry out of difficult times,” said Nangoi.
