The Minister of Education, Lucia Azzolina, does not approve the forward flight of the governor of Campania Vincenzo De Luca, who suddenly decided to suspend lessons in presence until October 30th because the surge in infections in the last two days: the decision taken by the Campania junta, said the MI owner, “is a very serious and deeply wrong and also inappropriate decision”.
Interview from a Zapping on Rai Radio1, Minister Azzolina spoke of “the governor’s fury against the school. In Campania 0.75% of students tested positive at school and certainly did not get it at school. The national average is 0.80. If there is growth, it is certainly not the fault of the school “.
Azzolina worried more about weddings and parties
According to the head of the department of Viale Trastevere there is an extreme need for pupils to “go to school or there is a risk that they will gather in the afternoon. If you want to close, select the places where there is danger. What will the young students from Campania do tomorrow? ”.
Minister Grillina was also keen to say that, rather than schools, “weddings and parties cause more concern”.
And on the problem of crowded transport he added: “buses on average are 55% filled by students”: a half admission that seems to agree with the governors who ask for double shifts at school, for high school, precisely for evacuate buses and subways.
De Luca’s reply: many infections in school
By return of post, the Campania governor’s response to the Minister of Education arrived: De Luca reported the data of the Crisis Unit, according to which positive swabs registered in Campania were 1,127 out of 13,780, equal to 8, 1% compared to 7.1 the day before.
“As far as the world of school is concerned – continued the Campania president – here are the data referring to Naples and Caserta: Asl Napoli 1: 120 pupils and teachers infected. Asl Napoli 2: 110 students and teachers infected. Asl Napoli 3: 200 pupils and 50 teachers infected, with about 70 related cases. Asl Caserta: 61 students and teachers infected.
According to De Luca, “dozens of these infections are direct contacts, and have been traced through contact tracing”: for the governor, therefore, the high number of infections recorded in the school world justifies the scheduled closure for 15 consecutive days.
