VRT staff demands legal action after abuses: ‘We are furious’

The report, which mentions opaque deals with screen views and production houses, careless budgets and insufficient sense of integrity, hit hard aan on the Reyerslaan. But not only the content of the document, but also the political reaction to it makes the staff praise. “We are furious,” said a press release. “As VRT employees, we do not accept that we are now being made suspicious, by some politicians among others. There is nothing to indicate that this report identifies abuses in the workplace. It’s about contracts with suppliers. ”

The staff delegation, which had a meeting with CEO Frederik Delaplace yesterday, writes in a press release that internal projects of the VRT every euro has been turned over for years. “Our budgets are viewed with a magnifying glass. Now it appears that magnifying glass is clouded when it comes to external spending. ”

Nevertheless, the VRT unions say they have already reported suspicious agreements with external suppliers to the management several times. “But those responsible at the time chose to ignore those complaints”, it sounds.

The staff does not want this to pass with impunity and urges action. “If it turns out that some responsible persons have been guilty of fraudulent practices, we, as a personnel front of the VRT, ask that legal action be taken immediately against these people.”
