An on-board diet that attracts in times of pandemic

Eating on a plane is always something special, maybe even exceptional. However, few people take food served on board at an altitude of eleven thousand meters above the ground as a purely culinary experience – it is usually a necessary banishment of hunger or disruption of an otherwise monotonous, endless sitting. However, the pandemic changes a lot, and as Singapore airlines show, there is interest in boarding, although you can go anywhere else.
The aviation industry is one of the few main areas that has been hit really hard by the coronavirus crisis. Due to the chaotic measures, people do not fly and the airline fleets rest only statically in hangars and runways. As a result, no money is being made, leading to redundancies without a positive prospect of when the situation could return to normal. Globally expect losses of over $ 300 billion.
This is not a good time for airlines, on the other hand, they have at least more space to involve their creative teams to come up with new ideas on how to survive the crisis. And ideally make some extra money. With a relatively unconventional experience a few days ago, Singapore Airlines arrived to turn some of its aircraft at Changi Airport into temporary restaurants.

But if it were classic restaurants as we know them. Inside the two Airbus A380s, the largest commercial commercial aircraft in the world, it wants to offer typical aviation food, which of course has its limitations compared to conventional dishes. Regardless of the fact that it provides an authentic experience for diners, during which the staff will serve them food on small trays designed for small, folding tables.
Like but writes agency Bloomberg, there may have been unprecedented interest in boarding the plane. After Singapore Airlines launched “seat” reservations, it was barely 30 minutes before it was completely sold out. People practically didn’t mind that they wouldn’t fly, but the idea of sitting on a plane even in such dark times for air travel was simply enough to fill the cabin.
To make the experience even more varied, Singapore Airlines will offer exactly four types of menus, which would normally differ from where passengers are seated. In the top class, the menu costs $ 474, business passengers pay $ 236, in the premium economy class, the meal costs about $ 71, and people in the economy will be offered food for $ 39. Those who do not want to pay money can also use frequent-flyer miles.
Due to the great interest, Singapore Airlines has expanded its offer from the original weekend (October 24 and 25) to the following weekend, adding the possibility of booking dinner for all four days. At the same time, it is not the only such initiative through which they want to fight against adversity. In the future, they want to deliver food directly to their homes, including instructions and a playlist on how to mediate the overall onboarding experience.
