Jennifer Sühr wants to join the state parliament in the constituency of Freiburg I – Kirchzarten for the SPD

Jennifer Sühr is running for the SPD in the state elections in the Freiburg 1 constituency: The delegates now elected her in Kirchzarten with a large majority, Mia Sanner is the SPD’s second candidate.

Socially acceptable housing, sustainable employment, the compatibility of family and work, free and high-quality childcare, social justice and the climate catastrophe are the main topics of Jennifer Sühr, explains the SPD in a press release. The 36-year-old grew up in Lenzkirch-Saig and lives in the Dreisamtal. She works as a social worker in social law and psychosocial counseling at the Diakonisches Werk Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.

Sühr grew up in the Black Forest

At the age of 18 she ran for the local council in Lenzkirch-Saig, since 2016 she has been active in the SPD Dreisamtal, since 2020 as the local association chairwoman. Since July 2020 she has been a member of the district council as a successor. As a social worker, according to the report, she experiences every day how important fair working conditions and equal educational opportunities are, regardless of the origin and income of the parents. And: “With climate protection, with the mobility transition, with the energy transition, green-black has failed. Climate protection is red,” Sühr is quoted as saying.

Two candidate Sanner lives in Löffingen

Second candidate Mia Sanner (34) lives with her husband and two children in Löffingen. Born in Hesse, she joined the SPD in 2004; she was active in the council and district assembly in her former home in Schleswig-Holstein. In 2020 Sanner finished her studies as an actress in Freiburg. She is therefore particularly interested in cultural policy. As a tax clerk, she is also well versed in financial issues. Municipal services of general interest are also important to her, from medical care and childcare to mobility and high-performance internet. After the election, Sühr wants to work as a member of parliament, Sanner in the parliamentary office: “Working women with children are not sufficiently represented in parliaments. That has to change.”
