Gianfranco De Laurentiis, the historical face of Domenica Sprint, died

For over thirty years, the Rai journalist has talked about sport on TV: from Dribbling to Pole Position, always with impeccable elegance and competence

Sport loses another historic voice. Rai journalist Gianfranco De Laurentiis died in Rome. He was 81 years old.

How much balloon

He was certainly one of the best known faces on the small screen linked to the world of football, which he always told with elegance and competence. From 1977 until 1994, he led Eurogol, the Tg2 column on the panorama of European cups, together with Giorgio Martino. But above all from 1987 to 1996 he was the soul of Domenica Sprint, which he drove together with other colleagues who have revolved around him. From 1993 to 1994 he was the director of TGS, the sports newspaper of Rai, and in the 1994-1995 season he hosted La Domenica Sportiva.

Not just football

From 1997 to 2001 he hosted Pole Position, the Rai program that airs immediately before and immediately after each Formula 1 Grand Prix. He then presented numerous editions of Dribbling, the historic sports rotogravure of the state broadcaster, until he became its face par excellence. Other programs include La giostra del gol, Gol-flash, Diretta sport, Eurogol, Number 10 with Michel Platini and Stadio Sprint.
