Recognize the type of wound and the right treatment

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – There are many myths and facts circulating in the community regarding wound management. However, sometimes, people cannot distinguish between myth and fact. As a result, many wound treatments go wrong and they don’t heal or heal.

Certified Wound Specialist PhysicianDr. Adisaputra Ramadhinara explained that the most common myth circulating in the community is that wounds do not need to be covered with plaster and just leave them open. In fact, wounds should be covered with plaster after treating the wound or its first treatment.

“Because, if the open wound is not closed, it has the potential to be exposed to dirt or bacteria and enter the wound tissue. As a result, it will actually make the wound healing take a long time. In addition, closing the wound also functions to keep moisture from the wound,” said dr Adisaputra.

According to Dr. Adisaputra, keeping the wound moist will actually speed up the healing process. “If allowed to dry, it will actually hinder the healing of the wound,” he added.

In closing the wound, continued Dr. Adisaputra, there are several steps that must be considered. The first step is to clean the wound with an antiseptic solution that is safe for wound tissue. After that, cover the wound using a bandage that matches the size of the wound.

For large wounds, it is certainly necessary to use a large bandage in order to cover the wound better and prevent the risk of infection from exposure to dirt and bacteria. If the wound tissue tends to dry out, apply wound ointment before covering the wound with a bandage to keep moisture in the wound tissue.

“It is better if the wound plaster is changed at least 2 times a day, after bathing and cleaned again. However, it will be replaced more frequently if the plaster is exposed to water or dirty more,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Marketing Director Hansaplast, Christopher Vierhaus, said that so far there are still many myths circulating in society. Especially regarding first aid and wound handling or care, especially for large wounds.

“First aid and proper care is very important in order to prevent the risk of infection and speed up the process of acute wound healing,” said Christopher.

For that, continued Christopher, Hansaplast invites Indonesian families to always be alert and ready to treat various kinds of acute wounds appropriately.

“Let’s always be alert in First Aid situations and be ready to treat acute wounds, both small and large sizes, appropriately,” concluded Christopher.
