From Tuesday, October 13, Riga public transport passengers who will not use face shields must reckon that they can be disembarked, said Riga Mayor Mārtiņš Staķis (APP) after the meeting of the Civil Protection Commission.
Information was heard at the meeting that people are aware of the mandatory requirement to use face masks in public transport. In general, most passengers use face masks, but there are also those who do not do it out of ignorance, but out of conviction.
The stake stressed that these people must not put other people who comply with this requirement at risk.
Therefore, from tomorrow it should be taken into account that the refusal to put on a mask can be disembarked from public transport. “Time for that [par sejas aizsega nelietošanu] was just a warning, it’s over, “said Stack.
He also informed that a report on the development of events last week in Riga with the spread of Covid-19 was heard at the meeting of the Civil Protection Commission.
The situation in municipal social institutions has also been assessed. According to the Mayor of Riga, there has been no huge demand for face masks. People are conscientious and have provided themselves with them. However, the municipality is ready to increase the demand, moreover, work on sewing masks has started in the municipal day centers.
Stakis admitted that the situation is more critical in educational institutions, pointing to Riga Natalija Draudziņa Secondary School, where a total of 60 cases of Covid-19 have been detected so far.
He called on people to be responsible and to follow not only the requirements of the regulations “Epidemiological safety measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 infection”, but also the recommendations for the prevention of Covid-19.
