The warning was in July, when the first, inexplicable epileptic seizure arrived. Then in August, during a family vacation in Norwich, Tom Parker, the former lead singer of the British boy band The Wanted, felt ill again and was rushed to hospital, where he learned the truth: those sudden attacks of epilepsy were due to a brain tumor, that is a fourth stage glioblastoma, the most advanced and not curable, with a life expectancy ranging from 3 to 18 months after diagnosis. That terrible day the life of the artist and his wife Kelsey – that just a few weeks earlier they announced to expect the second child, after little Aurelia, 15 months old – changed forever. I’m still in shock – Parker said in an interview with OK! Magazine – because that is too much to accept. I knew something was wrong, but I never expected it to be, you never think it could happen to you.

The post on Instagram
The singer did not want to know the prognosis and announced on Instagram that he has already started chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Hey guys, we’ve been silent on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to explain why – it reads in the post accompanying a photo of Parker with his wife and daughter -. There is no easy way to tell, but unfortunately I have been diagnosed with a brain tumor and I am already getting treatment. After much thought, we decided not to hide the news, but to do an interview to expose all the details. We are absolutely devastated, but we will fight to the end. We do not want your sadness, just love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options. As soon as they learned of the tumor and its severity, all the former mates of the band – which broke up in 2014 – sent messages of solidarity to Parker and his wife. It will be a tough battle, but with the love and support of all, we intend to win it, concluded the singer.
