Le Mans –
The French racer is still not matched with racing MotoGP in his own cage. This follows failure Fabio Quartararo won French MotoGP 2020.
In the race that was held at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit on Sunday (11/10/2020), Quartararo was actually able to take pole position. However, that position was then released after the first lap and Quartararo seemed to have difficulty maintaining his place in the front row.
Quartararo slowly but surely dropped his position until he was released outside the top 10 on lap 16. Quartararo then tried to improve his position until finally he only finished ninth and failed to widen the distance from his competitors in the 2020 MotoGP standings.
Quartararo still controls the top of the standings with 115 points, but the difference with second place Joan Mir is only five points. In addition, Andrea Dovizioso also threatened third with 97 points.
So, because he could not finish first, Quartararo failed to end the curse at home for the French riders. Because the last time a French racer won a motorbike race was Louis Rossi in the Moto3 class in 2012.
For the top class, the last time a French racer triumphed was Jacquez Collot when he was still named 500cc in 1958 or 62 years ago! Indeed, French primary class motorbike racing is not a pleasant place for the home representatives, because apart from Collot, only Pierre Monneret won in 1954.
Then, when can the host racer be victorious at French MotoGP? We’ll wait for next season.
