KOMPAS.com- A total of 22 active cadres of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle ( PDI-P) Tasikmalaya take a surprise attitude.

They no longer expressed support for the pair of candidates that their party and PPP supported, namely the incumbent Ade Sugianto and Cecep Nurul Yakin.

The 22 cadres actually chose to declare themselves switching their support to the candidate pair Azis Rismaya-Haris Sanjaya who was promoted by the Democrat Party and Gerindra.

Ready to accept the consequences

One of the PDI-P cadres, Kokom Somantri, emphasized that he was ready to accept the consequences of his party because of opposing elections this time.

Kokom even said that the choice made by the 22 active cadres was solely for the sake of the people.

“We are ready to accept whatever consequences the party itself has on us. But now we are more concerned with the people in the Tasilmalaya Pilkada now,” he said.

It is not without reason that they shift their support to candidate pairs that are not supported by their party.

Apparently, the incumbent candidate pair who is also the chairman of the PDI-P DPC Ade Sugianto is considered to have disappointed them.

“This declaration did arise from the conscience that initially there were only 6 PDI-P cadres. It turns out that this thought is the same as the former PDI-P PAC administrators who felt disappointment with the incumbent candidate as well as the Chair of the PDIP DPC Ade Sugianto,” explained Kokom.

Another reason they do not support the incumbent is because they want changes that are better and more prosperous for the people.

He admitted that he had discussed with a number of former PAC administrators in other sub-districts to agree to support the Azis-Haris pair.

“Apart from being a form of disappointment, as many as 22 former PAC PDI-P Tasikmalaya Regency want a change in the government of Tasikmalaya Regency to make the people more prosperous,” he explained.

“Moreover, the figure who is now supported is considered economically established and does not need to enrich himself. So, we believe the Azis-Haris pair will focus on all other local government budgets only for the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the candidate for district head of Tasikmalaya Azis Rismaya who was promoted by Gerindra and the Democrats was proud of the courage and decision of the PDI-P cadres who supported him.

Azis also expressed his gratitude for the support of dozens of party cadres bearing the white bull muzzle.

“I thank the PDI-P cadres who supported me. I have now pledged that I belong to the people of Tasikmalaya and all parties with the intention of running as candidates in the regional elections,” said Azis.
